Honk if you love the environment. Better yet, lay off the horn and buy a license plate to help preserve open space in the East Bay.
The San Francisco Bay Area Coastal Conservancy has crafted special plates, which could raise up to $1 million to help preserve open space in the Bay Area. The environmental nonprofit needs 7,500 paid pledges to make sure the DMV will issue the plates, which cost $50 in addition to the DMV fee, plus a $40 annual option to renew. For more information, go to bayarealicenseplate.org.
