Why Come? This unpretentious restaurant’s name says it all. The food is homey without being heavy and made by owners who also help in the dining room. They don’t serve dinner here, but the restaurant has from-scratch suppers ready to go.
What’s the atmosphere like? Cozy on the inside and spacious on the outside patio. There are window tables and counter seats, plus a tempting coffee station with lots of house-made pastries. Local art graces light gray walls, and reclaimed wood sets an organic tone.
What to order? The just-set market quiche arrives warm. The brunch chiles rellenos bake—a cheesy, spicy tomato–sauced custard—is comfort food all the way. Avocado is everywhere, most notably in the tasty BLTA. The milky chocolate cake is mile high.
How much? $6–$14.
When is it open? Breakfast and lunch Tues.–Fri., brunch Sat.–Sun.
Where is it? 337 Rheem Blvd., Moraga, (925) 388-0841, homemadekitchen.com.
