They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but you can keep your overpriced sparklers. As far as best friends go, mine is mascara.
That’s why I was intrigued by Barbara Carey’s latest invention, a motorized mascara brush called Spinlash. The Orinda resident created two other slightly off-the-wall inventions: Hairagami updo hair clips and Dittie tampons, which come in a decorative floral box.
The rotating battery-operated brush took some getting used to, but once I was proficient with it, my lashes did separate and appear thicker and longer. The downside was the mascara included in the package. Billed as washing off easily with soap and water, it settled under my eyes by the end of the day. Fortunately, Spinlash can be used with any mascara—so I was able to avoid raccoon eyes by simply using the applicator with my own brand.
Spinlash is available at Target and Bed, Bath, & Beyond stores, and at www.spinlash.com.
