Gelateria Naia is now selling gelato bars!
Gelateria Naia’s commitment to sourcing its ingredients from local food purveyors such as Blue Bottle Coffee and Numi Tea has always been commendable. But packaging that Bay Area food ethos into delicious, easy-to-eat gelato bars? Well, that’s just plain fun.
“I think people like that they look familiar, like a Popsicle, but then they taste different,” says Naia cofounder Trevor Morris on the Hercules-based company’s new Bar Gelato line. “The flavors are very pure.”
Those flavors come from Naia’s making its gelato from scratch, using all-natural ingredients, and working closely with its vendors. For example, Naia’s owners sat down with the owners of St. George Spirits to figure out how best to incorporate the Alameda distillery’s high-freezing-point single malt whiskey into gelato form.
“That’s what being local means to us,” Morris says.
