About the Chef
One part African American soul, one part fiery Latino, all New York attitude. Chef Nelson German is Dominican-American, born and bred in uptown Manhattan's Washington Heights. German's unorthodox culinary style draws from his Dominican heritage, his embrace of Mediterranean and Asian influences from working under internationally acclaimed Chef Yugi Wakiya. Within alaMar's first year he earned a coveted 2016 Michelin Guide recommendation, bringing him one step closer to becoming a Michelin star chef.
