Opera San José will bring a cast of accomplished artists to stage with its production of Giuseppe Verdi’s powerful drama, Il trovatore. Featuring an emotional, heart-stopping score, this mesmerizing story of romance, obsession, and retribution will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Il trovatore will be conducted by Joseph Marcheso, Opera San José’s Music Director and Principal Conductor, and directed by Brad Dalton, who has staged major opera productions throughout the United States and abroad, including for San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Washington Opera, and the State Opera of South Australia. It will be presented at the magnificent California Theatre, the elegant 1927 former movie palace meticulously restored to opulent splendor and now one of the world’s most intimate opera houses.
