'Una Panthera' - Music of the Italian Trecento

May 24, 2019
06:00 PM until 07:00 PM

Barefoot's May Concert "Una Panthera" is a program of music by legendary 14th-century Italian composers and the northerners who lived in Italy, performed by local icons Calextone (Allison Zelles Lloyd, Frances Blaker, Letitia Berlin, and Shira Kammen). The program includes Johannes Ciconia's hauntingly-beautiful madrigal Una Panthera, written in honor of the city of Lucca, as well as works by composers Francesco Landini, Vincenzo da Rimini, and Jacopo da Bologna, three of the many composers who appear in the sumptuous Squarcialupi Codex. Lively caccias, sensuous ballate and madrigali by some of the great composers of 14-century Italy will make the trecento come alive again.
