Ruth Bancroft Gardens spring plant sale this Saturday

I just got back from a fantastic tour of the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek. Whenever I visit, I'm impressed by the 3.5-acre garden's tranquility and, more obviously, its stunning collection of water-conserving plants. If you've never visited the Ruth Bancroft Garden, this Saturday is the perfect time. The garden will be hosting its annual Spring plant sale. Plants range for $4-$75, and sell quickly, as garden enthusiasts come from all over the Bay Area for this sale every year. Members get first crack from 9-11 a.m. (you can register for membership at the door for $35), then the sale opens to the public from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. All plants in the garden and in the sale are drought-tolerant, which is particulalry important this year!

Admission this Saturday is free (usually, tours are $7), so while you are there, make sure to take one of the worthwhile guided tours. 1552 Bancroft Rd., Walnut Creek, (925) 944-9352, ruthbancroftgarden.org.
