Breaking Dawn book release

Teen vampire books are massive best-sellers, biggest books since Harry Potter

I have to admit- I thought the whole idea was a little crazy when my friend first told me about it. I mean, a vampire love story? A vampire love story? I’m all for teen romance stories, but I’m not into sci-fi at all.

I’ve totally joined the cult. And I’m not even ashamed to admit it. Stephanie Meyer’s novel, Twilight, is incredible. It’s sweeping the world. I couldn’t put the book down. I hung on every word as Bella Swan fell in love with Edward Cullen and discovered his deepest darkest secret. It’s eloquently written, vividly real (as real as vampires go), and intensely intriguing.

I know, I know. It’s technically a “teen” fiction novel, and I’m not a teen anymore. But I know plenty of 30 year-olds who are every bit as obsessed with the book as I am. Call it a guilty pleasure, call it a fantastic summer read, call it whatever you want as long as you give it a try. Or if you’re convinced that you’re so above teen drama, check out Stephanie’s adult novel, The Host (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/thehost.html).

After you’re done reading the book that raised the standards for all mortal boyfriends, pick up the second book in the series, New Moon, then the third, Eclipse, and get ready for the Breaking Dawn Release Party on Friday, August 1 at 10pm at the Walnut Creek Barnes and Noble (1149b S Main St., 925.947.0373). Attend and get ahead of every other squealing fan who will have to wait for the official release date, August 2, to pick up their copy. Of course, all our favorite indie bookstores, like the Lafayette Bookstore, Rakestraw Books in Danville, and Clayton Books, will be selling it as well.

I’m sure you’ll finish the fourth book the day it comes out, so what do you have to look forward to after all life’s burning questions have been answered? Get a sneak peek at the first chapter of Midnight Sun, Twilight from Edward’s perspective, here (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midnightsun_chapter1.pdf).

Still can’t get enough? It’s ok, me either. Check out the trailer for the Twilight movie, coming to theatres December 12. Watch the trailer here. Bella + Edward forever!!
