The Syringa Tree / Center REP

Through February 27: The Syringa Tree
Center REP presents Pamela Gien’s 2001 Obie Award–winning play about two families in 1960’s South Africa—one black, one white, and the two children that are born into their shared household. Astoundingly, all 28 roles are played by one actress: Shannon Koob. Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek, $18–$41, (925) 943-7469, lesherartscenter.org.

February 4: Truffles, Tidbits, and Wine Tasting
At Pleasanton’s popular annual wine stroll, Livermore Valley red and white wines, ports, dessert wines, and champagnes are paired with sweet treats and hors d’oeuvres at participating downtown businesses. Get your ticket early—this event sells out every year. Main Street, Pleasanton, 6–9 p.m., $25–$30, (925) 484-2199, pleasantondowntown.net.

See website for details. Blackhawk Plaza, Danville, 5–8 p.m., free, (925) 736-2751, shopblackhawkplaza.com.
