Danville teen dies in shooting

Reason for shooting in quiet Danville neighborhood still undetermined.

From Rylan Fuch's Facebook page.

“I love you so much. Rest in peace. Miss you already,” writes a friend on the Facebook page of Rylan Fuchs, the 17-year-old Danville boy who was shot to death in front of his home Tuesday night.

News reports state that officers were called to the home at the intersection of El Capitan and Borica drives at about 9:15p.m. and found the boy lying in front of the home with a gunshot wound to his neck.  No motive has yet been named for the shooting.

Fuchs, a senior at San Ramon Valley High in Danville, was transported to John Muir Medical Center in critical condition, where he subsequently died this morning.

A press conference about the shooting is underway this morning at the Danville police department, 510 La Gonda Way.

According to Fuchs’ Facebook page, he was looking for “a relationship,” and liked basketball, music, hip hop, rap, and reggae.

Tragedies like these snap us out of the fog of our lives—politics, money, drama, pettiness—if only for a second. And make us want to hug our children a little tighter, to tell our spouses more often how much we love and appreciate them, and to enjoy every precious second of this short life. My prayers are with the Fuchs family during this time.

He was in a relationship since around August I've only met him twice. His girlfriend is so sweet. He was nice when I met him. I don't understand how anyone could ever do this to him.

Rest in Peace Rylan. You are greatly missed.
