A-List Contest: Win tickets to Company C Contemporary Ballet this weekend
Acclaimed ballet troupe Company C Contemporary Ballet brings its winter program to Walnut Creek's Lesher Center for the Arts this weekend and we have two pairs of tickets to Saturday night's performance to give to lucky Diablo readers. The form to enter is attached below the impressive program for this weekend's performances:
Lar Lubovitch, Cavalcade
Music by: Steve Reich
Company C Contemporary Ballet is delighted to bring one of Lar Lubovitch’s seminal works to audiences in 2010. Cavalcade, a dance for ten choreographed in 1980, is a dazzling explosion of movement where the music pushes the dancing to a climax of speed and excitement. A major force in the dance world for over forty years, Lubovitch’s works are known for their musicality, sophisticated structure, and virtuosic technique.
Amy Seiwert, Dreams to Remember
Music by: Otis Redding
For this new commission, Amy Seiwert will string the soulful songs of Otis Redding into a loose story, creating a narrative work that will be a captivating departure from her usual choreographic expression.
Charles Anderson, Akimbo
Music by: Ornette Coleman, Ben Johnston, Jon Hassel, Kevin Volans
Powerful and athletic, Akimbo is a fascinating study in stark angularity, sensuality and the balletic form. For the upcoming season, Charles Anderson has added a new opening section and a compelling male duet to this elegant work.
Charles Moulton, Nine Person Ball Passing
Music by: A. Leroy
Nine-Person Ball Passing is a Rubik’s cube of joyful, natural movement in which dance and geometry intersect in playful whimsy. This dance is one of a series of unique and highly entertaining works involving precision ball passing among nine dancers.
