Tainted Love

Just in time for summer, Blackhawk Plaza plays proud host to the 2009 Blackhawk Summer Concert Series. Running every Friday beginning July 10, this series is free to the community and features a number of popular Bay Area musicians. Check out your favorite group or just enjoy the whole lineup over the summer shopping season.

July 10
Ultra fun cover band Busta-Groove will kick off the summer lineup, performing a range of classic hits from the ‘70s ‘til today! Masters at recapturing favorite hits, classics, Motown, and even Top 40, they’re a fun and energetic start to the Summer Concert Series.

July 17
The Bay Area’s beloved pop and soul group Pride & Joy will perform timeless hits in an audience-friendly and electrifying manner. Pride & Joy has enjoyed over 25 years of success in the Bay Area for their fun and enthusiastic performances of classics and body-moving tunes.

July 24
There’s something about The Beatles that just has a feel-good vibe to it. The Sun Kings have managed to harness whatever this power is and bring it to the stage with their own on-point versions of classic Beatles tunes. Much more than just a cover band, this group brings your favorite Beatles tunes to the stage with breathtaking accuracy and affection.

July 31
Get down and dirty with East Bay Mudd. This 10-piece band uses a mix of vocal, instruments, and a killer horn section (including sax, trombone, trumpet, and more), to perform a mix of your favorite R&B, funk, and soul classics.

August 7
Self-described “ultimate Journey tribute cover band,” Evolution, will bring Danville back to the ‘80s with their takes on classic Journey tunes and performance style. Their musical and theatrical precision is only paralleled by the dead-on accuracy of their hairstyles. Enjoy a trip back in time with this popular and dedicated group.

August 14
In case their name didn’t explain it all, Tainted Love will be bringing another dose of retro to Blackhawk with their performances of your favorite ‘80s dance hits! This fun and energetic group will have you moving to the beat of Pat Benetar, Madonna, and maybe a little Bon Jovi, too.

August 21
The final summer concert will feature ABBA tribute band Waterloo, taking the stage to perform classic hits complete with funky hair and costumes. They’ve played along with some of the original members from the band, and pay homage to the group by bringing their sound back to the stage. See if you can resist singing along to “Dancing Queen.”

The 2009 Blackhawk Summer Concert Series runs July 10 to August 21, at Blackhawk Plaza, 3454 Blackhawk Plaza Cir., Danville. Seating opens at 5 p.m. with shows running from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event, including wine and beer.
