Bawdy Burlesques in the East Bay
Danville lingerie boutique, Original Sin, puts on exciting burlesque shows to remember, including tonight in Alameda.
“The shows aren’t exactly family friendly,” says the owner of Original Sin lingerie boutique Sarah Woodruff with a laugh when describing the nature of her burlesque shows, one of which will be performed tonight at the Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge in Alameda. But for the discerning adult, she stresses, it's a fun time, more in line with the teasing, traditional shows produced in early 20th century America than with the gentelmen's clubs prevalent in the 21st.
There will be six female, teasing provocateurs performing in the show, providing the racy—but classy—entertainment. When asked what the audience can expect, Woodruff replies, “basically, it’s a whole lot of fun. We keep it classy. And, it’s at least as much for the women as it is for the men.”
The show starts at 8 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m.—no cover charge. And if you're intrigued but can't make it tonight, not to worry: the burlesque shows are scheduled for every second Thursday at Forbidden Island throughout the summer, as well as every third Thursday at Easy 925 lounge in Danville.
