Contra Costa Ballet Centre is holding its second annual competition for dancing scholarships on Sunday.
The Contra Costa Ballet Centre’s second annual Jo Tao Memorial Scholarship Competition is a chance for your bright young dancer to win partial or full tuition to the Contra Costa Ballet Centre in the fall '09/spring '10 terms. Here's what you need to know about the competition:
Who can compete? Intermediate and advanced level dancers between the ages of 13 and 18 may participate in the competition.
What does the competition entail? The competition has two parts. First, dancers will take a class and be judged (by Patricia Perez of San Francisco Ballet, Zola Dishong and Richard Cammack) on their performance and technique therein. Then, dancers will perform and be judged on a classical or contemporary solo of their choice.
When will it be held? Sunday, June 14. 2-4 p.m.
Where do I need to go? The Contra Costa Ballet Centre. Located on 2040 North Broadway, Walnut Creek.
Other details: Be mindful that there is a $20 audition fee. Also, the classical or contemporary solo to be performed by the dancers should be three minutes or less. To reach the Ballet Centre by phone: 925-935-7984. Mmore information can be found at contracostaballet.org.
