This week brings the first day of Summer as well as Father’s Day.  So, have some outdoor fun with Dad—partying in Uptown, strolling Danville, or cheering at the ballgame.  Here are your Top Tickets…

June 17: Gong Show Nights
Inspired by ‘70s television variety series The Gong Show, California Independent Film Festival presents an audience-controlled evening of indie film. If you don’t like the movie, run down and hit the gong, and it will stop. Event returns July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, and November 18. Vine Cinema, 1722 First St., Livermore, 7 p.m., $8, (925) 277-1355, caindiefilmfest.org.

June 18: Uptown Unveiled
Celebrate the rebirth of Oakland’s Uptown District with a huge street party. Enjoy live music on three stages, a poetry slam, skateboarding competition, ice skating, art exhibits, tours of the historic Fox Oakland and Paramount theaters, film screenings, and good eats at area’s hottest restaurants and clubs. Telegraph Avenue between 16th and 20th, Oakland, 5–10 p.m., free, (510) 444-2489, oaklandnet.com.

June 19–July 19: Sculpture in the Garden Exhibit
The Ruth Bancroft Garden—three acres of native and drought-tolerant plants—becomes even more beautiful when the Bay Area’s best sculptors display their work among the greenery. This weekend only, explore the Marketplace Art Sale for treasures you can take home to your own garden (June 20–21, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.). Ruth Bancroft Garden, 1552 Bancroft Rd., Walnut Creek, $7–$10, (925) 944-9352, ruthbancroftgarden.org.

June 20–21: Danville Fine Arts Faire
More than 200 artisans from around the world display ceramics, photography, painting, and other goods at this annual downtown fair, while musicians provide mood music and street painters turn the asphalt into temporary masterpieces. Don’t miss the wine and microbrews at the beverage garden! Hartz Avenue, Danville, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., free, (925) 837-4400, mlaproductions.com.

June 22–24: Bay Bridge Series
Get your green and gold on: The Bay Bridge Series comes home this week.  The Oakland A’s are seeking revenge after losing three games to the red-hot San Francisco Giants earlier this month.  Root, root, root for the home team!  Oh, and Wednesday is $1 hot dog day. Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, all games 7:05 p.m., $9–$55, (510) 568-5600, oaklandathletics.com.
