Uptown Unveiled Street Fair Tonight
Downtown Oakland's new arts and entertainment district will be celebrated tonight.
Oakland's Uptown neighborhood is booming these days, particularly after the opening of the gorgeous new Fox Theater. And if you haven't had a chance to check out the area, Uptown Unveiled street fair is a good way to start, as Oakland's hot new arts and entertainment district will be unveiled in a big way this Thursday from 5:00–10:00 pm. The celebration will feature music from 15 bands on three stages, as well as a street fair covering six city blocks that includes free tours of the Fox and Paramount theaters, restaurant specials, illuminated art shows and street performers. If that wasn't enough, there's also free ice skating at the Oakland Ice Center, a skateboarding contest, a kids zone and much more. There's something for everyone so bring the whole family!
The event is centered in and around Telegraph Ave. from 16th St. to West Grand/Broadway. To avoid the hassles of parking and traffic, take BART to the 19th Street station.
