Celebrate Irish History on St. Patrick's Day at Clayton Books
Author Rose Murphy to discuss her biography of Irish mystic Ella Young.
If you’re looking for a way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day that’s more about Irish history and literature—and less about green beer—check out local author Rose Murphy, who will be discussing her new book Ella Young, Irish Mystic and Rebel: From Literary Dublin to the American West. Murphy captures the life of an enthralling woman who wrote poetry and Celtic tales, helped smuggle guns for the Irish Republicans, and, at the age of 56, traveled to California. In the West, Young became a popular lecturer at UC Berkeley and later died in San Luis Obispo County.
Murphy, the author, has taught Irish literature and history throughout Sonoma County, including Sonoma State University and various community colleges. The event is being hosted by Clayton Books and starts at 7 p.m. Be sure to wear green!
