Peter Pan Foundation benefit shows this weekend at Diablo Valley College
Wish Upon a Star performance at DVC to raise money for Oakland Children's Hospital.
The halls of Diablo Valley College’s Theatre and Performing Arts Center in Pleasant Hill will soon be filled with magical family entertainment. That’s because the most recent version of Wish Upon a Star debuts this weekend, a musical produced by the non-profit Peter Pan Foundation to benefit the Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland.
Lafayette resident Leslie Noel, creator and director of the Foundation, created it in honor of one of her previous students killed in a car accident who had played Peter Pan in a performance. Diablo profiled Noel in our December issue as one of the honorees of 2008's Threads of Hope awards, which highlight East Bay residents performing exceptional volunteer service in the community—CLICK HERE to read the story.
The foundation can now make claim to a number of successful benefit performances, including the largest, the annual Wish Upon a Star showcase. This year’s show will feature a number of magical songs for children of all ages. It will be held at Diablo Valley College’s Theatre and Performing Arts Center from Saturday, May 23 (teen performance) through Monday, May 25 (junior performance), at 1pm and 7pm. Tickets are available at the door by donation; suggested donations are $20/adults, $10/18 & under.
