Perhaps the only things on your mind right now are roasting turkeys and preparing a Black Friday battle plan. But there’s even more fun to be had over Thanksgiving break, including a beautiful holiday ballet, trains covered in lights, Cirque du Soleil, and lots and lots of art to see and buy. November 27–28: The Christmas Ballet
Jump right into the holiday season with Smuin Ballet’s post-Thanksgiving performance of its popular Christmas Ballet. The show begins classical and ends contemporary, covering everything from ballet to tap to swing dance. November 27–December 27: Train of Lights
Travel through Niles Canyon on a train covered in holiday lights. Indoor and outdoor seats are available for the festive 75-minute journey, or book reserved seating in the Art Deco parlor lounge car ($40). The caboose can also be reserved for private parties.

November 27–January 24: Ovo
Ovo means “egg” in Portugese, and Cirque du Soleil’s latest production is about a colorful world of insects working, eating, crawling, and fluttering, when a mysterious egg appears. As for the acrobatics, the show features Cirque’s biggest tent trapeze act ever and an eight-meter rock wall. AT&T Park, at Third Street at Terry A. Take a free self-guided tour of more than 100 professional artisan workshops in Berkeley (weekends only). View and purchase one-of-a-kind clothing, jewelry, ceramics, blown glass, paintings, and more. Plus, you’ll get to meet the artists and peek into their studios. December 1–January 21: Objects of Virtue
Bedford Gallery’s juried exhibition of contemporary pottery features the work of artists from across the country who share the idea that “something as humble as a pot can have the import and mystery of a fine painting or sculpture.” Come see for yourself.
