Lafayette Art and Wine Fest, September 20–21

Hippies won’t have to use the side door to get into the Lafayette Art and Wine Festival this weekend, as the sounds of Neil Young, The Grateful Dead and The Beatles, among others, will be heard from local tribute bands.  The talent, which includes Workingman’s Ed, Evolution, The Sun Kings, Aja Vu and more, will be heard on both days of the festival on three different stages.  If you’re not going, you’ll most likely hear crickets at home, as over 50,000 people have been known to attend this annual event in its past years.

Good grub and wine: check.  200+ Arts and Crafts booths: check.  Free parking: check…yes!  (Park at BART in Lafayette and get shuttled for free to the festival).  Various microbreweries will also make appearances.  The festivities take place in downtown Lafayette off of Highway 24 starting at 10am Saturday.

When:  Sat. 9/20 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sun. 9/21 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Admission: Tickets start at $6, with numerous festival packages available for the brew and wine fans. Proceeds benefit the Lafayette Arts and Science Foundation (LASF) and other non-profit organizations. More information here
