Jack London Square Hosts Free Family-friendly Event Tonight
Full Moon Buy Night features live music, food, crafts, art, and ice skating
If you are looking for a fun, free night out, check out Full Moon Buy Night, a night market, at Jack London Square this Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. This event will showcase various local business and artisans of Oakland as well as street carts featuring food from local restaurants. Many of the vendors may be from Oakland Unwrapped!, an online marketplace for people to sell their crafts and other products. The Pacific Coast Farmers Market will also be present with fresh fruits and vegetables and various products such as breads and cheese. While shopping and eating, guests can listen to live music provided by DJ Ron Matthews or check out a 6:00 p.m. special performance by the Cougar Drum Corps Cadets. There is also an ice skating rink, and sky-gazing activities organized by Chabot Space and Science Center. As guests walk around, they will also see fire eaters, magicians, a French accordionist, and stilt walkers in the crowd. The art gallery, art@theOakbook, will invite guests in to see their latest display, “Improvised Branches,” which explores with how art and journalism merge.
Home to the still-under-construction Jack London Market, as well as several new and soon-to-open upscale restaurants, Jack London Square has organized numerous free community events in recent months—including the succesful Eat Real Festival in August—and is planning additional ones through the end of the year.
