Combining drinking and horses may seem like the way to the strangest D.U.I. imaginable, but fortunately, the 3rd Annual Wine and Equine festival on Saturday, September 12 requires zero mounting on your part. Hosted by SonRise Equestrian Foundation and Murrieta’s Well Winery, the wine, food, and horse-filled event encourages you to indulge without guilt. All funds from the festival will be donated to SonRise Equestrian Foundation, a local nonprofit that brings together children and horses in need of unconditional love and support. In an effort to help them develop confidence, integrity and responsibility, the foundation pairs children with social, emotional, or physical disabilities and terminal illnesses with rehabilitated unwanted and abused horses for free, through fundraising events like this festival. Spend a little money and enjoy gourmet BBQ, wines from Murrieta’s Well and Wente Vineyards, live and silent auctions, and a horse show, all so deserving children can enjoy the opportunity to interact with a horse, free of charge.
Saturday, September 12 from 1 - 5 p.m., at Charles Wilhelm Training Center and Ranch in Castro Valley. Tickets are $75 and available at sonriseequestrianfoundation.org or by calling (925) 838-7433.
