Sittin’ by the Dock of the Lake
New Lake Chalet opens today in Oakland.
It’s been said good things come in sets of threes. This may ring true when Oakland’s newest eatery, Lake Chalet, which opens it's doors today. Especially if it’s two existing sister restaurants, Beach Chalet and Park Chalet, are of any indication. All specializing in modern American cuisine, Lake Chalet will add excitement to the menu by fusing classic dishes with fresh ocean fare for the perfect waterside meal. The seafood bar and grill is set to open this month in the historic, 100-year old Lake Meritt Boat house, complete with four bars, an outdoor dock, and gondala service provided by Gondala Servizio. Have a beer and socialize at the bar (it seats 80), or head up to the roof to enjoy the view of the lake from the patio.
The menu of executive Chef Jared Gallagher, formerly of One Market restaurant in San Francisco, is "upscale seasonal" with a seafood slant and will include such dishes as Petrale Sole “Piccata” with Yukon Gold potato puree, watercress, tomato, served with a caper-butter sauce and Parmesan cheese, and Ahi Tuna with Sweet Onion Gravy, mustard greens and beech mushrooms. Grill items include Liberty Farms Duck Breast with roasted figs, BBQ Baby Back Ribs from Vande Rose Farms and a Half Pound Burger, while a raw bar will serve Dungeness crab, lobster, and oysters.
