A Decade of Dungeness

The Walnut Creek Yacht Club's holiday crab dinners are coming up. Check out Diablo's Facebook page to win a free dinner for two.


Crab lovers, tie on your bibs! It’s crab season again and, for the 10th year running, Walnut Creek Yacht Club is presenting its Annual Dungeness Crab Parties on Tuesday, December 23 and Wednesday, December 31 (New Year's Eve).

In addition to the crab entrée with coleslaw and fries, the four-course dinner includes calamari antipasti, salad with albacore confit, and a triple chocolate brownie that’s so luscious we’ll let it remain a surprise. Dinners are $49.00 per person (excluding tax and gratuity) and are served in family style seating. Reservation times are 5:30, 6:00, 8:00, and 8:30pm.

If your holiday calendar is already booked, crab is available in the WCYC market to take home, or anywhere else, for that matter. In addition to the classic, unadorned Dungeness, executive chef Kevin Weinberg and his crew can prepare Roasted Crab with Garlic, Lemon and Herbs, Roasted Red Chile Crab Singapore Style, or a big bowl of Commodore's Cioppino. With a day's notice or more, they'll have it all ready for you to pick up.

Here’s more good news: To celebrate the launch of its new Facebook page, Diablo Magazine is giving away a dinner for two for one of the two holiday crab dinners (or any other night of the week). To become a Diablo/Facebook friend and enter the drawing, register at this link. Remember, you have to become a facebook “fan” of the magazine in order to qualify, and the last day to enter the contest is Friday, December 12.
