Most parents have probably forgotten the days when they could have a romantic dinner for two without having to worry about hiring a babysitter. Their breadbaskets and olives have been replaced by crayons, and their energies are spent seeking establishments with high chairs instead of good wine lists. However, hope of child-friendly fine dining without the hassle can still be found at Digs Bistro in Berkeley.
Digs Bistro offers “Parents Nite Out” on the first Monday of every month, an event specifically geared towards parents with children ages 2 and up. For $10 a child (and $5 per sibling) children are treated to a kid-friendly meal, a scoop of ice cream, and a supervised movie in Digs’ private dining area, while parents dine in the main room.
Digs offers California-Mediterranean cuisine, a selection of fine wines, and a great compromise for the parents who want a nice evening out – but don’t want to stray too far from the little ones.
Monday, February 1, Digs Bistro, 1453 Dwight Way, Berkeley, 94702, (510) 548-2322, www.digsbistro.com.
