Celebrate Saint Pat’s

A round-up of bars and restaurants offering St. Patrick’s Day fun this Thursday.


It’s that time of year to pull out anything green and get ready to party! Indulge in traditional Irish dishes and drink green beer at many restaurants and bars hosting parties or offering specials for the occasion. Here are some special St. Patrick’s Day events happening around the East Bay.

Barclay's Restaurant & Pub
Barclay’s will offer up a special Irish menu, with items such as corn beef and cabbage and Shepherd’s pie. Also, there will be kegs out on the patio and in the garage serving Guinness, Harp, and Smithwicks. 5940 College Avenue, Oakland, (510) 654-1650, barclayspub.com.

The Crown

Dublin Sports Pub and Grill
Dublin Sports Pub will have an extended celebration, serving corned beef, cabbage, and green beer all week long. Thursday’s party will include a live Celtic rock band and prizes from Guinness and Budweiser, starting at 9 p.m. 7294 San Ramon Rd., Dublin, (925) 587-2333, dublinsportspub.com.

E.J. Phair Brewing Company and Alehouse

The Englander

At Henry’s, specially priced beer such as Guinness, Harp, and Smithwicks will be offered for the occasion along with classic corned beef and cabbage. Gallagher’s Dublin Pub
Have fun inside or outside at Gallagher’s: There will be live music on the patio with Wett Willy from 6 to 10 p.m. as well as DJ O’Brian spinning inside the pub from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Enjoy some corned beef and cabbage to get energized to dance the night away. 7821 Amador Valley Blvd., Dublin, (925) 828-5996.

The Cuban restaurant will serve Irish fare, including a corned beef special that includes Guinness-braised corned beef with cabbage, sweet potato-poblana hash, and crispy leeks with sweet Dijon mustard. Join Liege for its St. Patrick’s Day Blow Out and one-year anniversary celebration. The party will run from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m., with free appetizers from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., including whiskey braised pork shoulder wrapped in green cabbage, homemade mini Shepherds pies, and chips with crazy hot green salsa. Norm’s Place
Norm’s sixth annual celebration starts at noon, and this year, there will be authentic Leprechauns, green beer, bag pipers, drummers, Irish dancing girls, and corned beef and cabbage. Petar’s Restaurant

Walnut Creek Yacht Club
Start off the evening with Craic Hour (craic is the Irish word for fun/enjoyment) from 3 to 6 p.m., when all St. Paddy’s Day drinks are just $5. Party in the Plaza

Celebration on the Bay
Celebrate on the beautiful San Francisco Bay on the St. Patrick’s Day Cruise, scheduled Friday, March 18 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Enjoy a traditional Irish dinner from Warehouse Bar & Grill along with a no host bar that will be open the entire evening. If you or your friends need a ride after the evening out, don’t forget about AAA’s Tipsy Toe Program. The insurance company offers free 10-mile tows home for drinking drivers and their vehicles.
