Thanksgiving notes from Diablo contest entries

Dining at Yankee Pier in Lafayette

We received a great response to the Diablomag.com web exclusive contest to win Thanksgiving dinner for two from Yankee Pier in Lafayette. The winning entrant came from Michelle Dooner of San Ramon. We asked each reader to post what they are thankful for this year along with their entry. We were really touched by the responses! Here's what some Diablo readers are thankful for:

I am blessed to have my family (my wife and children, mom, siblings, great in-laws), and to live in this community where my children are getting a great education, meeting nice people, where we feel safe, where we opportunities we never had in other areas, and ... where we can dine at great restaurants like Yankee Pier!

I am fortunate to be able to live in the Easy Bay where I grew up even though it is so much more expensive to live here now.  This year we were able to go from renting to owning; although the first year has been hard financially, we are doing okay and fortunately are able to make our mortgage payments.  I am thankful that I can raise my daughter in such a beautiful area with good public schools and so many parks and trails.  I feel lucky that my job was not cut in this bad economy.  I voted for Barack Obama and I am thankful that the Bush administration is on the way out.  I am thankful for my family, and for my friends, and that all the people that I love have had a healthy year.  I am most thankful for my husband and my daughter.

Family, friends, my job and co-workers, and my health. And my two beautiful cats!

I am thankful for my loving husband, my two adorable little children, my parents love and support, and the friendships I've made over the years, and being able to live in the wonderful Bay Area.

Having a year of excellent health, the love of family and a wonderful, loving husband.

I’m thankful for my family and health.

I am thankful for the troops in Iraq doing what they are doing, so we can all be here eating turkey dinner, watching football taking naps on  Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful for my son husband. I am thankful I am healthy. I am thankful to have FABULOUS friends. And this year in particular after 6  1/2 months of unemployment, I'm SO THANKFUL MY HUSBAND HAS A JOB! Whew!

My family and friends. Living in a beautiful area and having all my needs met. My job which I enjoy each day and co-workers. My pets that I love very much. I am pretty much thankful for everything in my life.

I’m thankful for my wife

I'm thankful for the beautiful Wife and Son who have been at my side through good and bad!

Thankful for good health, especially for my mom who will turn 87 this January,2009. My loving husband who works hard to support our family.

I’m thankful for my good health.

I am thankful for my two beautiful children, a wonderful husband of 16 years, a family close to love on, and a sovereign Lord that loves me and sent HIS son to die on the cross for my sins.

My family. I have a wonderful wife who fills my life with love, and I have three children who give me the strength to be the best dad I can be.
