Barlata Tapas Bar, Bella Ristorante, The Farmer Restaurant, Five, and Korean BBQ Plus.

The November issue is off to the printer, but we’ve posted our restaurant reviews to the website early, so you won’t miss another opportunity to dine at some of the East Bay’s great spots. This month, we visit Barlata, a seafood-centric tapas bar in Oakland's Temescal district; Bella Ristorante, opened by the owners of Luna, which serves up simple and consistent Italian fare in Concord; the Farmer Restaurant, which serves classic American eats such as tender fried chicken, in the historic Pleasanton Hotel building; Five, the restaurant in the newly remodeled Hotel Shattuck, where we loved a braised pork belly appetizer and the friendly and knowledgable staff; and Concord's hidden treasure, Korean BBQ Plus, which serves dazzling banchan.
