Cheap Eats: Taco Tuesdays at Lake Chalet

New Lake Merritt restaurant offering a weekly deal on tacos, plus cheap drinks.

Hey, the week is almost halfway over: The Lake Chalet wants to help you celebrate with Taco Tuesday's at their brand new restaurant overlooking Lake Merritt. Starting at 4 p.m., The Dock (the outdoors portion of the restaurant closest to the water) offers $2.50 tacos, along with $3 pints of beer and half-price margaritas. The promotion is a spillover from Lake Chalet's sister restaurant, The Park Chalet in San Francisco, where weekly taco nights have been a local favorite for years. While we can't vouch for the tacos (haven't tried them yet), we can vouch that this beautifully restored former Municipal Boathouse, with its impressive lake views, is a sweet spot to spend an afternoon—and definitely worth checking out if you haven't been.
