Sierra Spring Fling

The still-slushy snowpack and phenomenal deals at Norcal ski resorts will have you singing down the mountain this spring.

Sierra ski slopes are blooming with the slushy white stuff and—thanks to this season's epic precipitation—the snowpack should keep select lifts at some resorts open for at least another month (Mammoth will stay open until July 4). Spring’s tee-shirt weather will have you singing from top to bottom, lift lines are light and lively, and you might just encounter a pool party when you get to the bottom. And though tickets aren't heavily discounted, some resorts offer spring season passes for almost the cost of an adult ticket. Better yet: hotel prices can be downright cheap. So slather on the sunscreen and head to the mountains to take in the abundant snow and vernal value while it lasts.

While Northstar, Homewood, and Heavenly have closed shop for the ski season, several other resorts still look like winter (except for the bikini-clad sunbathers lounging at village pools.)
