What's in Store: Tons of Movement
See what stores will be closing soon. Plus: Grammy Awards fashion recap, a Chinese New Year celebration, and local sales.
Alina B, a staple in Walnut Creek, will be closing due to the impending Broadway Plaza construction. The plan as of now is to open a new location by March 15. Until then, enjoy a huge sale--up to 50 percent off--and a sendoff soiree January 31 from 1-7 p.m. Alina would like to personally thank everyone for their business over the past 25-plus years.
Filthy gorgeous is also moving out of its location in the back of Broadway Plaza. Find deals up to half-off storewide, and 20 percent off French consignment antiques.
Elegant clutter in Danville is closing. This will be the final weekend for shoppers to stop in, so I recommend going if you'd like to find items for the home at a greatly reduced price.
… and Openings
See’s Candies may have closed down in the back of Broadway Plaza, but not to worry! You can still score sweets for your sweetie, as they have opened up shop across the street (by Lucky Jeans and Starbuck’s).
Chinese New Year in Berkeley
Fourth Street in Berkeley is considered retail row to many. This Saturday, get your shop on while enjoying a Chinese New Year celebration. From 12-4 p.m., there will be store blessings, candy giveaways, martial arts, a lion dance, and free parking.
Now through February, pre-book an appointment at Pleasanton’s Salon Vivace to be entered in a raffle. Prizes include $50 per month toward services for an entire year.
Berkeley’s Viv & Ingrid jewelry is offering up a sweet deal--20 percent off Valentine’s Day gifts (use the code LOVE) through February 6. Plus, enjoy free shipping on orders more than $100. To shop the sale items, click here.
Blackhawk Plaza has new store stickers for discounts. Find Winter Clearance items by locating a sticker with a blue snowflake on storefronts. Hurry in, as this is wrapping up after Friday.
If you find yourself in downtown Pleasanton, stop by Girlfriends boutique on Main Street for 50 percent off items. Girlfriends is already known for its reasonable prices, so there should be some very affordable finds.
I have to admit it: I didn’t watch the Grammy Awards all that much this year for the music. The Bachelor’s Sean and Catherine’s wedding was on at the same time, which I couldn’t miss. But I did take a peek at what was worn on the Grammy’s red carpet. I am loving the metallic theme that’s trending right now. Some of the shiny show-stoppers I liked best included Taylor Swift in Gucci, Ciara in Pucci, and Rita Ora in Lanvin.
