Several local ladies are experiencing huge success—and not just in the East Bay. Also: events, sales, and a solution for wearing those skinny heels during summer months.

Local Designers Doing Big Things

Orinda resident Kellee Bachour, creator and owner of Good Boy Friday clothing, has noticed that celebrity children are wearing her pieces! Hillary Duff’s son Luca has rocked their neon splatter tank; Rachel Zoe, celebrity fashion stylist and star of reality show The Rachel Zoe Project, dressed her son Skyler in a matching tank and shorts set. Their outing was featured in Daily Mail UK, which you can check out here. Way to go, Kellee! Maybe Blue Ivy or baby North will be your next happy customers.

Melissa Joy Manning, our local jewelry maker, has been featured in Elle magazine! Manning often uses unique gems and stones to create stunning sustainable and handmade pieces. These made-to-order rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are created in her Berkeley studio. In addition to her 5th Street shop, Manning has a store in NYC, and often has trunk shows around the country. Congrats on your continued success, Melissa! Peep the article here.

In my last blog post, I mentioned that a new vintage store, The Spotted Cow, was opening in Walnut Creek. A great time to stop by would be for their Grand Opening party this Sunday, June 22, from 2-6 p.m. when 20 percent of your purchase will go to Arts Access, an organization bringing live theatre and visual arts to underserved youth.

Old Oakland is throwing a Neighborhood Block Party in honor of the new This is Oakland book. On Saturday, June 21, from noon-4 p.m., stroll 9th street (between Washington and Broadway) while savoring local wines and beer and local treats and, of course, to check out the book.

Walnut Creek's Stem Salon will be hosting a benefit for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. The event, Be Glamorous and Give Back, will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, June 27. Start the weekend on the right foot with blowouts, manicures, spray tanning, champagne, and more!
