What's in Store: Get Ready for Fall Weather

New makeup products and clothing items with fall in mind; carve out some time this month for a little skin rejuvenation and relaxation; several upcoming store closings; plus your weekly deals and steals.

It’s time to dive into crunchy leaves, sip a pumpkin spice latte, and wrap a new scarf around your neck—fall is upon us. Here’s how to get fall-ready and stay informed on local shopping news for the week.

Makeup Junkies
There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the new RiRi Heart MAC Collection at MAC. Look forward to warm browns and peaches, with a touch of metallic silvers and greys. For lips, try orange shades, or the ever-popular wine color, for a more daring look. The collection hasn’t been out long, but many items are already sold out online. Your best bet is to stop by your local MAC store and see the collection for yourself.

Love makeup but need extra help knowing how to pull off certain looks? Keep an eye on the Diablo Style blog, where we will post a makeup tutorial featuring local makeup guru Ariel Taranto and yours truly. She has also posted a video regarding the RiRi Collection; view it here.

Wish Boutique and Just Be Yoga in Walnut Creek are hosting their grand-opening event this Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Stop by for 20 percent off items at Wish, or a complimentary heated Vinyasa yoga class 6-7 p.m.

Starting Friday, Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek will begin its ArtFall event. Join the gallery this Saturday from 4-6 p.m. for the opening event, and peep jewelry, crafts, and fine art, including hundreds of paintings (for sale and for rent). The event will run through November 16.

On Thursday, SpecialTees in Lafayette is hosting a trunk show featuring designs by Nanette Lepore. This New York designer combines youthful feminine touches with a bit of gypsy influence, so my guess is that this would be a good time to find unique statement pieces. All items will be 25 percent off during the trunk show.

Set aside a little time for yourself: Spa Weekend is coming to the East Bay! Hundreds of spas and wellness centers throughout the country will be offering signature treatments for $50 each, and Body by Melisa in Oakland is one of them. Several Napa-based spas will also be featured. Events will take place October 14-20, but purchases are also available online at spaweek.com

Goodbye, for Now
Barnes and Noble in Pleasant Hill is closing. We know there are exciting things happening in the area, but this may be more of a company-wide choice: It was reported in January that Barnes and Noble planned to close 20 stores a year for the next decade. In Pleasant Hill, HomeGoods will fill its spot.

Though it’s not permanent, Victoria’s Secret in Stoneridge will be temporarily closing. Check out the highly anticipated reopening of the store on October 11 at 10 a.m.

Fall Weather Items
Transition from summer to fall with ease with new mesh yoga pants from Victoria’s Secret PINK. You don’t have to say goodbye to color, as these pants feature pops of color from pink to neon yellow. Also, for a limited time, score a $5 v-neck T-Shirt with any lounge bottom purchase. (The Victoria’s Secret store at Stoneridge may be temporarily closed, but their PINK store is alive and well.)

Courtesy of MyrrhiaA season change often brings about a new hair routine. Stop by Blackhawk Beauty in Blackhawk Plaza for up to 75 percent off brands such as Joico, Kenra, Biomega, and Sexy Hair.

Sometimes, it’s hard to find super-cute PJs that are also cozy and comfy. My new personal fave is a set from Jessie Steele. This design is great for fall or winter, and the ever-classic polka dot pattern is also available.

Add some texture to your life (and a new hemline!) with a pyramid skirt from Myrrhia. For fall, try one of these statement pieces in olive or brown.
