See Artist in Action at Berkeley's Brower Center

Check out Daniel McCormick create an eco-installation for his Methods and Materials exhibit this week Tuesday through Friday at the Brower Center's Hazel Wolf Gallery.

The David Brower Center is giving guests a unique opportunity to take part in art beyond just viewing it. Award-winning ecological artist Daniel McCormick’s latest creation is on display at the David Brower Center, whose new exhibit will display examples of McCormick's unique work in which he fuses art with the environment around him. From January 18 to 21 and January 24 through 25th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., viewers can get a first-hand glimpse at how he creates his art—which is traditionally created in the field—as McCormick will be constructing an eight-foot sculpture specifically for the exhibition.

McCormick has created environmental defenses such as silt traps, erosion control implements, and other ecological friendly enhancements. A number of drawings and sculptures will be available for viewing, and the evolution of many of his ecological art pieces are on display through the use of documentary photographs. As someone who believes art should exist for more than just for viewing, many of McCormick’s pieces provide interactive workshops and other personal opportunities for the public to take part in the art up-close. Take the opportunity to meet the artist himself on January 27 at 7 p.m. at the David Brower Center, following a wine reception. (RSVP required, (510) 809-0900)
