Berkeley warms up for Outside Lands with a summer block party, the 680 corridor receives a namesake IPA, and the local beer scene gets some San Diego flavor.
Outside Lands Pre-Festivities
As a part of Outside Lands’s Summer Series, concert organizers will be throwing a preparty, if you will, in Berkeley this Saturday. In conjunction with Vintage Berkeley Wine Shop, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Summer of Riesling, and the American Cheese Kitchen, they’ll be closing down part of vine for a summer block party. Tickets include two glasses of summer-perfect wine (like rose, chenin blanc, or Riesling), a made-to-order classic grilled cheese, and a shooter of smoky tomato soup. $30, Saturday, July 29, 4–7 p.m., 2113 Vine St., Berkeley, website.
680 Gets its Own IPA
According to Danville Patch, Schubros Brewery, part of our new brewery roundup, is releasing its newest beer this Saturday at the Livermore Saloon. The new 680 IPA, along with Schubros’ Nico Wheat, will be available from 1–5 p.m. The brewery will also be giving back with its newest release: One percent of IPA sales will be donated to local educational foundations in the specific area where the beer is sold. San Diego Brews Go North
San Diego¬–based Karl Strauss Brewing Company, known for its award-winning beers, is finally letting the other half of California in on the action. The brewery is now distributing its beers across Northern California, and is kicking off its journey into new territory with a handful of pint nights across the Bay Area, including one at Tap 25 on August 2. Stop by at 6 p.m. to try a few of the brewery’s beers, which include Red Trolley ale, a multiple World Beer Cup winner, and the Tower 10 IPA, which has picked up medals from local fairs.
