In the spirit of summer, spend the last weekend in May outside with a little wine, food, shopping, and live music. Back for its 34th year, the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is hosting its annual Art and Wine Festival at Heather Farm Park on May 30 and 31.

Known by locals as one of the best family-friendly events, the Art and Wine Festival spotlights local shops, vendors, musicians, and artists. Former Walnut Creek Chamber executives Jack Welch and Mel Eckerstrom established the festival because of Mel’s passion for art, wine, and beer. Now the event attracts more than 100,000 guests each year.

Shopping and Attractions

Browse more than 200 vendor booths selling jewelry, paintings, clothing, tech toys, and other wares. Bring your wallet and a keen eye, as most items are one-of-a-kind.

A 25-foot rock climbing wall, multiple bounce houses, and rides on an electric train will keep young guests entertained while you dance to the Unauthorized Rolling Stones, as well as local favorites Key Lime Pie and Cuban-born sonero Fito Reinoso.Courtesy of Walnut Creek Art and Wine Festival

Food and Drink

The festival offers a number of options, including teriyaki chicken, tacos, and corn dogs. Smoothies and fresh-squeezed lemonade will also be offered.

Adults can also visit the premium wine tent featuring more than 100 red, white, and sparkling wines. Enjoy a glass of Wente, the festival’s featured East Bay winery. If beer is more up your alley, there will also be a craft beer garden with most brews coming from the East Bay and Contra Costa.

Transportation

BART offers a free shuttle service to and from the festival from the Walnut Creek BART station. It runs every 15 minutes, from 10 a.m. to one hour past closing time, each day.

Free parking is also available at the Shadelands Business Park, and a free shuttle will bring you to and from the festival. There is also complimentary valet bike parking.
