By the Numbers: Saint Mary’s College Gallery Expansion
The Moraga college establishes a Museum of Art, expands gallery space, and presents new exhibit opening this Sunday.
Saint Mary’s ushers in a new era of art with its establishment of the Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art. The SMCMoA includes the university’s original Hearst Art Gallery and William Keith Gallery, in addition to two new galleries. The new space opens on October 2. Keynote speaker and University of Southern California professor Kevin Starr will introduce the latest exhibit, “The Comprehensive Keith: A Centennial Tribute,” which features nineteenth century painter William Keith. The Scottish-American artist, who lived in Berkeley and traveled with John Muir, is known for his California landscape paintings and environmental activisim.
