1963 Best Picture winner screens for free on August 14 at the Orinda Theatre

One of the cool things about hosting the Classic Film Series at the Orinda Theatre is the opportunity to show the greatest movies of all time as they were meant to be seen—up on the big screen.

This month's classic is one you're not going to want to miss: director David Lean's spectacular Lawrence of Arabia. This ambitious and moving film about a British military officer (played by the incomparable Peter O' Toole) and his conflicts and exploits in the Middle East during World War I.

An absolute masterpiece, Lawrence of Arabia cleaned up at the 1963 Oscars, winning seven statues, including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, Set Decoration, Film Editing, Sound, and Original Score (Maurice Jarre!).

This is a GREAT movie.

It is also FREE. (That's another cool thing about this series at the Orinda.)

That's right—on August 14 at 7 p.m., you get to see one of the greatest films of all time in one of the most beautiful cinemas anywhere, for free.

As always, our official cupcake sponsor, Republic of Cake, will bake up some goodies for trivia prizes before the show.

See you at the movies!
