Paging Southwest passenger Brian Cashman...there's a $160 million star pitcher in the East Bay
So last night I'm getting on a Southwest flight from Las Vegas to come back to Oakland and I see the New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman boarding the plane in front of me. Cashman is the Yankees equivalent to the A's Billy Beane, only with many more millions to spend on star players. Looks like Cashman was headed to the East Bay to try to sign Vallejo native C.C Sabathia to a whopping seven-year, $160 million deal to pitch for the Bronx Bombers in their brand new Yankee Stadium. Though I won't be rooting for the Yankees (Go A's!), I couldn't be happier for Sabathia—a great guy who let me crash his wedding at the Blackhawk Museum a few years ago
