Free Movie: The Sting
Paul Newman and Robert Redford star in Oscar-winning con game classic, showing in Orinda on March 13
Our March movie is one I've always wanted to see on the big screen, the 1973 Oscar-winner The Sting. I also thought it would be the perfect movie to show in case American Hustle wins this year's Oscar, as both movies are period piece con game classics.
This con man classic was a huge hit in its initial release, reteaming Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids stars Paul Newman and Robert Redford for a Depression-era comic thriller about high stakes gambling and confidence games. The movie was nominated for 10 Oscars and won seven, including Best Picture, Director (George Roy Hill), and Screenplay (David S. Ward).
As always, admission is FREE. The movie starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday March 13 at the beautiful Orinda Theatre. Please arrive early to find best available seats—and to answer questions in our trivia contest before the show. Winners receive a pair of Sting-themed cupcakes from our offcial cupcake sponsor, Republic of Cake.
