Free Movie: Roman Holiday
Audrey Hepburn classic screens February 13 in Orinda
Just in time for Valentine's Day, we have a doozy of a romantic movie for you. So, if you don't have date night plans yet, you're welcome in advance.
On Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m., Diablo magazine and Lamorinda Theatres will offer the next entry in our monthly Classic Film Series: Roman Holiday.
For some reason, Audrey Hepburn movies pair perfectly with Valentine's Day—we've had huge turnouts for Breakfast at Tiffany's and Love in the Afternoon. Hepburn won an Oscar in her first lead role in Roman Holiday, playing a European princess who meets up with an American reporter (Gregory Peck) under the most whimsical of circumstances. It's a Hollywood romance for the ages, shot on spectacular locations around Rome.
As a special treat, Italian film expert Laura E. Ruberto will help me introduce the film, and share stories about Roman Holiday's production and cultural impact. Ruberto is the Co-Chair of the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at Berkeley City College.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Orinda Theatre Square, entry to the Classic Film Series is FREE! We're expecting a big turnout for this one, so please arrive early to find parking and seating. As always, we will give away Roman Holiday-themed cupcakes from Republic of Cake as prizes for trivia questions before the film.
