Pete's weekend movie roundup: Phil Karlson, CIFF Comedy Night, and Transformers 2.
Support the California Independent Film Festival at their comedy night; and if you see Transformers 2, head for the drive-in.
Hey folks, I gotta keep it short this week. Here are my picks:
More Noir! Berkeley's Pacific Film Archive completes its monthlong celebration of the 1950s crime movies of Phil Karlson with Gunman's Walk, which plays tonight at 8:30 p.m.
Comedy for a Cause: The California Independent Film Festival hosts a night of laughs at Bunjo's Comedy Club (at Willow Tree Restaurant in Dublin) this Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, and proceeds from the event support Livermore's annual film festival. Visit CIFF's website for more information.
Transformers 2: This summer sequel is two-and-a-half hours of ear-splitting loudness. If you must see Transformers 2, head to the Solano Drive-In, where you can adjust your own volume. It plays at 8:50 and 11:40 p.m. through Tuesday, June 30. On Friday and Saturday, the final Transformers showings are followed by Star Trek at 2:25 a.m., making for two very late nights of action flicks!
