Stanley Kubrick's horror masterpiece screens for free on April 9 in Orinda

While planning the 2015 Classic Film Series, I realized that in the five years we have been showing these great movies, we have never selected a Stanley Kubrick movie.

Lots of Hitchcock, David Lean, The Sound of Music and A Christmas Story—but never Stanley Kubrick.

Obviously, that needs to change.

So this month, we're fast-forwarding the calendar to Halloween, and showing one of the spookiest movies of all-time: The Shining.

It's an amazing film that really needs to be seen on a big screen, without the luxury of a pause button, to be experienced the way Kubrick intended.

I can't wait!

The Shining will screen on April 9 at 7 p.m. at the Orinda Theatre. Admission is FREE ... so arrive early to find parking and the best available seats. As always, the fun begins with a cupcake giveaway. Our friends at Republic of Cake will decorate special Shining cakes for the event, which we will give as prizes for the trivia quiz before the movie.
