Free Movie: Sunset Boulevard
Billy Wilder's classic Hollywood noir screens for free on March 9 at the Orinda Theatre
We're screening one of the great inside Hollywood movies on Thursday, March 9 as part of our monthly Classic Film Series.
Writer-director Billy Wilder's masterpiece Sunset Boulevard is as dark and unsettling today as it was in its initial release in 1950, when it was nominated for 11 Oscars and won three. William Holden and Gloria Swanson were both nominated for their unforgettable performances as a down-on-his luck screenwriter and a fading star who wants to get back in the spotlight.
The show inspired an acclaimed stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which is back on Broadway with Glenn Close in the Gloria Swanson role.
Come see the original in all its black-and-white glory on Thursday, March 9 at the historic Orinda Theatre. Seating is first come, first served, so arrive early to find parking and best seats. As always cupcakes from Republic of Cake will be prizes for our trivia contest before the film stars.
