Mother's Day surprise: Hear the new Green Day album for free!
Oakland's rock royalty streams its new record for free before the big release next week.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a review of Green Day's surprise show at the Fox Oakland, in which they played their new album start-to-finish. My first impression was that the material was strong, but it was a bit overwhelming to hear it all at once, live, for the first time—usually when I go to see a favorite band in concert, I've been blasting the cd in my car for a couple of weeks. So the main impression I got from hearing 21st Century Breakdown for the first time was that I wanted to play it again. And again.
So It's a special treat to find out that the band is streaming the whole damn thing online this weekend. Click here to check it out before plunking down $$ next Tuesday, when 21st Century Breakdown comes out in indie record stores like Rasputin and Amoeba and Mod Lang, as well as every big box store that sells cds.
