FASHION

Now that you have an idea of where and what to do, it’s time to decide what to wear.  New Year’s Eve is typically a night you can get away with flashier attire, whether it’s a back baring dress, sparkly sequins, or peek-a-boo-lace. Check out these fabulous options from two local boutiques: Duchess in Lafayette and McMullen in Oakland and Piedmont. Parker seems to be a favorite brand for both!

This Naven print dress ($178) is cute in the front and sexy in the back. This nearly backless dress will catch anyone’s attention. Duchess Boutique, 3587 Mt Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, website.

Lynn Nice, owner of Labels Luxury Consignment in Walnut Creek, also offers a few fashion tips to look fabulous this NYE.

When thinking about what to wear this NYE, Nice says it’s all about color. You can find hidden gems at her store that fit any price range. “Any color goes this year. Two favorites are deep teal and primrose yellow.”

With so many styles, choosing a classic yet memorable look can be tough. Nice recommends trying lace, “from delicate Chantilly to durable Alencon and every open work fabric in-between.” Or you can go classic with a little sparkle. “You can't go wrong with a fringed beaded shift or fitted sequin number. Both of these are iconic.”
