Looking to throw a little last-minute holiday bash? Keep an Elegant Brie on hand, the bake-at-home, pastry-wrapped brie created by San Ramon resident Leslie Bowers.
All you have to do is turn your oven to 400 degrees, slide in the brie, and in 30 minutes, you’ll have a sinfully rich, melty, luscious hors d’oeuvre. The appetizer comes decorated with pastry cutouts such as a wine bottle or grapes on the vine—you can even custom design an image of your choice (and then say you made the pastry yourself).
But if you want to admire it, take a photo, because your friends might polish it off in minutes. I know mine did. Elegant Brie comes in several flavors: Our favorite was the garlic, toasted pine nuts, and basil, but Bowers swears the artichoke, jalapeño, and garlic is just the thing for your next party.
