Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones harmonize well in Foreverly.
In a career filled with surprises, Oakland’s Billie Joe Armstrong has given us two rock operas, a smash Broadway musical, and hundreds of high-energy Green Day concerts. But even the most hard-core fans didn’t see his latest curveball coming.
Armstrong recently harmonized with torchy ingenue Norah Jones to record Foreverly, an album of Americana folk originally recorded by the Everly Brothers in 1958. The dozen duets on the record feature Armstrong and Jones engaging in gorgeous close harmonies, and the results range from haunting to delightful—and make a perfect stocking stuffer for East Bay music fans.
