Why Come? With an emphasis on organic produce and sustainable protein, this quick-casual SoCal chain’s menu reads like one from a hip, chef-run restaurant.
What’s the atmosphere like? The dining room is laid-back and contemporary, with a giant light fixture of blown glass and thick rope, and an enclosed patio that makes you feel miles away from adjacent Hacienda Boulevard. The ordering queue, however, can be slow, especially during peak hours.
What to order? The grilled steak is tender and served medium rare; a free-range chicken sandwich packs a punch with roasted tomatoes and orange-basil aioli. The side of brussels sprouts with turkey bacon is a must, as is natural orange soda sweetened with organic cane sugar.
How much? Sandwiches with chips are $8.50. Salads, plates, stews, and sandwiches with two sides start at $10.50; a take-out family meal serves up to four for $42.
When is it open? Lunch and dinner daily.
Where is it? 5111 Martinelli Way, Dublin, (925) 750-8011, urbanplates.com. (A Pleasant Hill location is slated for spring.)
